Everyone claims a different piece of the town as it’s “heart.” For the town of Wilton, New Hampshire, it could be many things. Maybe it’s the outreach of the library, the charity of it’s old New England churches, or simply the vibrancy of it’s people.

For several years, the Economic Development team has been working hard to implement a Riverwalk. Ground finally broke this year on Stage 1 when the accessibility and concept as a whole won a grant from the AARP. People of all ages could finally walk a path along Stony Brook, where the industrial heart of the town originally started. Artist’s plinths await future exhibits. Smooth, permeable ground cover provides a walking path and filters water before it reaches the river where the heron and otters make their home. And stone benches await the wandering and the weary.

Because when a weary heart needs respite? It heads to the water.
